Norwich City have been dealt a blow to their chances of keeping Emi Buendia at Carrow Road this summer.

What's the talk?

That's according to a report by Goal, who claimed that Arsenal are looking to firm up their interest in the £19.8m-rated 24-year-old ahead of a bid in the upcoming transfer window, with Norwich thought to be demanding a fee in the region of £40m to part with Buendia this summer.

It is reported that the Gunners' technical director Edu is extremely fond of the Argentine midfielder, with the Brazilian believed to have put the Canaries star at the top of his list of summer targets.

Farke will be gutted

Considering just how impressive Buendia has been since joining Norwich back in 2018, something which was particularly the case this season, the news that Arsenal could be ready to finally pull the trigger on a move for Buendia will undoubtedly worry Daniel Farke.

Indeed, the £8,000-per-week attacking midfielder has been in remarkable form over his 39 Championship appearances for the Norfolk side this season, scoring 15 goals, registering 16 assists and creating 18 big chances, culminating in an average SofaScore match rating of 7.68 - ranking him as the club's best performer in the second tier.

In total, over his 121 appearances for the Canaries, the player whom Chris Sutton dubbed a "revelation" has scored 24 goals and provided a whopping 42 assists - returns which have played a huge part in the club winning two Championship titles in the space of three years.

As such, losing a player of Buendia's obvious ability prior to City's Premier League campaign next season would undoubtedly weaken the chances of Farke's side retaining their status as a top-flight team come the summer of 2022, and his departure is surely something that the Norwich gaffer would like to avoid at all costs.
