Nottingham Forest’s poor start to the season continued on Tuesday as they could only manage a 1-1 draw against Rotherham at the City Ground.

Chris Hughton was rescued by a late goal in his first game in charge of the East Midlands outfit, but he wasn’t so lucky this time as Lewis Grabban missed an open goal late on to consign Forest to a draw against the newly-promoted side.

It was a poor day all-round for Grabban as his goalless start to the season continued.

The striker placed only one of his five shots on target, while he also only had 21 touches, the fewest of any Forest player who started on Tuesday.

His minimal involvement on the ball usually ended up being poor in any case, he had four shots off target, while he was also dispossessed twice and he had two unsuccessful touches.

It may be time for Grabban to find a spot on the bench after this poor start to the season.

The striker doesn’t look like the same player he did last term. Five games without a goal is enough to justify giving someone else a go, and Forest have a potent forward waiting in the wings.

Indeed, Lyle Taylor has all the attributes needed to be a regular scorer at this level, he netted 11 goals in 22 appearances last term, and while he hasn’t found the net this season, he has only made one start.

Grabban was undoubtedly a star under Sabri Lamouchi, he played 45 games last term and he scored 20 times during 2019/20, but it seems as though his confidence has been knocked somewhere along the line as he’s looked a shadow of his former self so far this season.

It’s time for Hughton to make a cut-throat call and drop Grabban.
