Nottingham Forest have wasted no time or resources during the transfer window to secure new players at the City Ground, and now a new potential transfer target has emerged.

What's the latest?

According to popular Spanish news outlet AS (via Sport Witness), Nottingham Forest are interested in Real Madrid right-back Alvaro Odriozola.

As per the report, Carlo Ancelotti is happy for the out-of-favour defender to leave Los Blancos this summer and Odriozola would welcome a move to the Premier League with Forest named as potential suitors.

Cooper could land his very own Hakimi

It is clear that Nottingham Forest are looking for high-quality players who can make a positive impact on their Premier League challenge over the season ahead, and the signing of Odriozola would be a statement of their intent to build a winning mentality.

The 26-year-old has won a Champions League, La Liga title, Bundesliga title and FIFA Club World Cup over his career so far with both Madrid and Bayern Munich, proving that the player can offer an experience of playing in elite squads that know what it takes to win.

Odriozola has found himself struggling for game time at Los Blancos and spent last season on loan with Fiorentina in the Serie A where he proved he can still be highly effective in his right-back role.

Madrid legend Michel Salgado once dubbed him "spectacular" and it's clear to see why based on his statistics.

Over 25 league appearances, the Spain international scored one goal, delivered one assist and created three big chances while making one key pass, one tackle and winning two duels per game as he demonstrated the immense threat he carries from full-back. Furthermore, he showed himself to be extremely competent in possession, completing 91% of his passes inside his own half.

The £118k-per-week defender also ranked in the top 15% of positional peers in the top five European leagues for progressive carries, shot-creating actions, touches and the top 5% for pass completion.

Based on those metrics, Cooper could even land his very own Achraf Hakimi as the Real Madrid defender shares many similarities to the Paris Saint Germain defender who was named as the third most comparable player to Odriozola over the last 12 months, per FBref.

The two players are no strangers to each other as they were the pair of prospective Dani Carvajal heirs that caused debate back in 2020 at Real Madrid with the full-backs set to battle it out for the position in the team, however, Hakimi was snapped up by Inter Milan that summer.

The two right-backs both have impressive pass completion rates (87.5% v 89.3%) over the last year, came close in their pressure success rate (32.6% v 31.2%) and also hit similar numbers with their goal-creating actions per 90 minutes (0.21 v 0.29).

With that being said, the signing of Odriozola would be a major addition for Forest and could certainly add even more quality to their new-look Premier League squad this season.
