Nottingham Forest appear set to close in on two more summer signings, with Brighton and Hove Albion's Neal Maupay and Lyon's Houssem Aouar nearing moves to the City Ground.

What's the word?

As per journalist Graeme Bailey, the Reds are keen to bolster their ranks even further with the signing of the French duo, having already brought in 15 new players thus far in what has been a remarkable transfer window for the club.

Taking to Twitter about the latest in those negotiations, the transfer insider wrote: "Nottingham Forest in talks over French duo Houssem Aouar and Neal Maupay".

In his attached piece for 90min, Bailey reveals that Aouar - who is said to cost in the region of £15m - has informed his current club that he is keen to leave this summer, while compatriot Maupay is available after having fallen down the pecking order at the Amex Stadium.

Additional reports appear to indicate that the latter will also cost roughly £15m, with the striker having spent the past three years with the Seagulls.

Cooper will be delighted

It is proving to be quite a few days for Forest boss Steve Cooper, with the Welshman having overseen a first Premier League victory for the club in 23 years at home to West Ham United on Sunday, along with securing the arrivals of the likes of Cheikhou Kouyate, Remo Freuler and Emmanuel Dennis.

Adding these two other potential arrivals into the mix will no doubt delight the former Swansea City boss even further, with Cooper seemingly building a squad which should be more than capable of staving off relegation.

While there may be concerns about just how the 42-year-old will be able to bed in so many new additions to the squad, such doubts will likely do little to quell the excitement which is brewing in Nottingham at present.

As for those two possible incomings, in the case of Maupay it would represent astute business for the Garibaldi, with the 26-year-old having been a reliable goalscorer during his time on the south coast - netting 26 league goals and providing seven assists over the last three seasons.

The former Brentford man - who previously netted 41 times in 95 matches during his spell with the Bees - will add further firepower to a forward line which is now brimming with talent, having already brought in the likes of Taiwo Awoniyi and the aforementioned Dennis.

While the £16.2m-rated man's capture is a potentially clever move by Cooper and co, it is the seemingly impending arrival of Aouar which could generate the most discussion, with many likely scratching their heads at just how the Reds will have have been able to pull off such a statement acquisition.

The 24-year-old - who has just a year remaining on his existing deal in France - has previously been a long-term target of fellow Premier League outfit Arsenal, having dazzled for his current club over recent years.

Previously dubbed "incredible" by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, the £62k-per-week menace has chipped in with 40 goals and 35 assists in 216 games for Lyon thus far, having risen through the youth ranks at the club.

That tally includes an impressive haul of ten goal contributions in just 15 Champions League games, with the 5 foot 9 star having clearly proven his quality at the elite level.

Such high-level experience will no doubt be welcomed by those at Forest, with the midfielder's prospective addition seemingly a real statement of both intent and ambition for owner Evangelos Marinakis, with mere survival potentially not the sole objective this season.

As such an extensive summer of recruitment continues, Cooper will be surely delighted at the immense backing that he has received thus far.
