Nottingham Forest have completed their 12th signing of the summer with Orel Mangala confirmed with a move to The City Ground, and now a reliable source has given an update on the club's pursuit of signing number 13.

What's the latest?

Italian journalist and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Nottingham Forest are already close to making their next signing, despite only finalising a deal for Mangala yesterday.

Romano tweeted:

"After Orel Mangala deal, Nottingham Forest are set to decide internally whether to make a new proposal to Real Betis for Alex Moreno after first bid turned down."

"Personal terms agreed weeks ago but still no agreement between clubs."

Cooper will be elated

There is no doubt that Steve Cooper will be elated with the number of signings and efforts the powers at The City Ground have made to ensure the squad is fit to compete in the Premier League, and adding Alex Moreno could be the cherry on top of a great transfer window for the Reds.

Moreno has been a stand-out performer for his current club Real Betis, and in La Liga, last season proved he has what it takes to make a move to the Premier League.

The 29-year-old scored five goals, delivered three assists and created two big chances, making 2.5 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 2.3 clearances per game, as well as winning the majority of his ground and aerial duels combined (52%), offering both attacking and defensive attributes that would be a valuable asset to Cooper.

It was reported that the Forest boss still wants to sign a striker, a midfielder and another left-back following the signing of Omar Richards, and Moreno fits the profile of a player who can dominate the left side of the pitch in the left wing-back or left midfield position.

However, Forest will need to up their bid if they want to sign the Spanish star this summer as they have already had a bid rejected according to reports, with Real Betis keen to secure at least £17m for their player.

With that being said, if Cooper is keen to add another left-back this summer then Moreno would be the perfect profile of player to fit the role, however, if they can't meet the required fee they could miss out on acquiring his services.
