Nottingham Forest have been long-term linked with Josh Bowler, and now there has been an update from a reliable source on the club's pursuit of the player over the remaining days of the transfer window.

What's the latest?

According to The Express journalist Ryan Taylor, Blackpool winger Bowler is the "subject of interest" for Nottingham Forest.

Taylor tweeted:

"Blackpool winger Josh Bowler is subject of interest from Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth & Fulham."

"Also been told #WatfordFC could make late move given cash at their disposal. Tangerines now fearful forward could depart before deadline."

Imagine him and Dennis

With 16 new players joining the squad at The City Ground this summer, it is surprising that Forest are still on the search for even more players to come in, but the club are clearly keen to do everything in their power to ensure the Tricky Trees retain their Premier League status this season.

Bowler has been impressing no end with the Tangerines and has been a stand-out performer whilst occupying the right winger position at Bloomfield Road since joining last summer.

The 23-year-old talent who was hailed "magic" by reporter Sean McGinley, has not had his performances gone unnoticed with EFL expert George Elek lavishing praise on Bowler when assessing his time at Blackpool so far:

"He's someone who has probably been under the radar a bit in terms of outside Blackpool fans, but he's someone we're going to be seeing a lot more of."

"He's a potential star at this level."

Over 42 Championship appearances last season, Bowler scored seven goals, delivered three assists and created seven big chances, taking 1.7 shots on goal and completing 2.5 successful dribbles per game, displaying glimpses of his attacking potential something Cooper could continue to develop in the Forest squad.

The Welsh manager could even land the perfect partner for newly-signed striker Emmanuel Dennis, as the talented Nigerian forward can use his versatility and Premier League experience to assist Bowler in reaching his potential in the forward-line at Forest.

Dennis has predominantly featured in the centre-forward role but also has tallied up 29 appearances and six goals in the left winger position, so he could be the ideal player to get the best out of Bowler's attacking attributes, with the pair both capable of finding goal-scoring opportunities and being creative in the wider roles in the final third.

With that being said, Bowler is clearly a player that Cooper believes in and is a talent he is keen to develop after Forest missed out on him in January, so if the club could complete the signing this summer it will surely delight the manager.
