Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Nottingham Forest agree personal terms with Liverpool’s Neco Williams

Nottingham Forest have agreed personal terms with Liverpool’s young full-back Neco Williams.

What’s the word?

That’s according to Football Insider, who claim that Jurgen Klopp could sell the defender following the recent signing of Calvin Ramsay.

Forest have agreed personal terms already with the defender and now must agree on a fee with the Merseyside club.

Williams is keen to join the newly-promoted side, however, they are currently unwilling to pay Liverpool’s £15m asking price who will green light a sale if that fee is met.

The news emerges with Forest also close to signing Moussa Niakhate per Fabrizio Romano.

He’d replace Djed Spence

It seems that Djed Spence may end up being just too expensive for Steve Cooper to bring him back to Forest.

He impressed last season with his athleticism and technical ability down the right-hand side, scoring two and assisting five as the Tricky Trees earned promotion through the playoffs.

However, with his absence all but guaranteed, the Forest boss appears to have found another forward-thinking full-back who could certainly replace this output.

Highly-rated Liverpool youngster Williams got his first real taste of first-team football last season, with a six-month loan spell at Championship winners Fulham. He featured just 14 times, but in that time managed two goals and two assists.

Seeing as Spence played over double that, it is certain that the Wales international would have surpassed his goal contribution tally had he been given a full season.

A remarkable average SofaScore rating of 7.24 further marks him out as a standout performer, and he actually ranked third amongst his Fulham teammates for ratings last season.

This only proves how ready he is for regular football, however with his chances at Anfield dwindling, a move to Forest could be perfect for both parties.

Upon penning a new long-term deal back in 2020, Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for the youngster with bags of potential.

He claimed that “Neco from the first day he trained with us, he trained like a machine. Every day he became better and better and better and I thought, ‘OK, what’s that?!’

It appears that the only stumbling block on this deal is the fee, but Cooper has to replace the dynamism and offensive output lost down the right, and in Williams he could have the perfect replacement.

AND, in other news: Forest plotting swoop for “exceptional” £10m wizard, Cooper would love him.
