Nottingham Forest have been dealt a blow in their bid to bring Morgan Rogers to the City Ground this summer.

What's the talk?

That's according to a report by the Daily Mail, who claim that Crystal Palace have now joined the race for the Manchester City winger, with Patrick Vieira believed to be keen to bolster his attacking options in south London ahead of transfer deadline day at the end of the month.

It has been previously reported that a number of Championship clubs, including Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth, are keen on a deal for the 19-year-old, who was in attendance for the Reds' 2-1 defeat to the Cherries last Saturday.

Murphy will be gutted

Forest were seemingly leading the race for Rogers not that long ago, with Paul Taylor claiming that a switch to the City Ground looked to be progressing quickly. However, reports that a Premier League side in the shape of Crystal Palace have now entered the race for the winger could have left Forest CEO Dane Murphy gutted.

Considering how impressive the England under-19 international was during his loan spell at Lincoln City last season - where he struck up an impressive partnership with Forest's Brennan Johnson - the potential signing of Rogers certainly appeared to be something of a potential coup for the Reds this summer.

Indeed, over his 28 League One appearances for Michael Appleton's side last term, the £1.17m-rated forward bagged six goals, registered two assists and created nine big chances for his teammates, as well as taking 1.9 shots and making 1.1 key passes per game.

These returns saw the man who the Imps manager dubbed an “outstanding” player earn a remarkable average SofaScore match rating of 7.09, ranking him as Lincoln's second-best performer in the league.

However, with the offer of Premier League football likely to be a great deal more appealing than a move to the Championship, Murphy now faces a considerable job in convincing the £19k-per-week City starlet of a move to Forest this summer, which will be hugely frustrating for the Garibaldi CEO.
