Arsenal fans may be slightly disgruntled right now. It looks like 2010/11 is going to be another trophyless season, following exits in quick succession from the Champions League, FA Cup and Carling Cup, unless the Gunners can pull something out of the bag in the Premier League. The trophy drought is starting to get longer and pressure increases on Arsene Wenger, with a new era of the club due to start with the takeover from Stan Kroenke. However, I want to look back not forward, beyond the 2004 Invincibles to the Double winning team of 1971!

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the 1970/71 Double winning Arsenal team and to celebrate a special DVD is being released so that you can relive that season in all its glory, or see it for the first time if you’re a young Gunner. Arsenal: The Double 70/71 allows you to take a trip back to the days before the Premier League and relive the season that has gone down in Arsenal’s history and will always be remembered.

The seventies was the decade of music and mullets, and couldn’t have got off to a better start for the Gunners. When Arsenal won the League and FA Cup double in 1971, they were just the second team in history to achieve that feat, and their team was full of players who lit up Highbury and are still household names now, living off their former glories and creating new records in some cases.

As you would expect, the DVD features bucket loads of match footage so that you can revel in the memories, while player interviews add a bit of gloss and depth to the whole package. See the likes of Bob Wilson, Pat Rice, Frank McLintock, George Graham and Charlie George and then hear what they have to say about that season now. As an added little extra you can even view some retro pen pics of them!

So if you fancy watching football in the ‘good old days’ and wouldn’t mind seeing Arsenal clinch the League title against north London rivals Tottenham at White Hart Lane or George’s FA Cup final winner against Liverpool one more time, this is the DVD for you. Just don’t let it get your expectations up too much for next season as far as the Gunners are concerned, although you never know, another Arsenal double could be just around the corner…

We’ll be giving away a copy of Arsenal: The Double 70/71 very soon. Make sure you become a fan of the Football FanCast Facebook Fan Page so that you don’t miss out!
