It has been an exciting season in the nPower Championship this season and as the campaign draws to a close there hasn’t really been a standout team. However, there have been standout players and from my point of view, I have enjoyed watching Adel Taarabt of QPR, Wes Hoolahan of Norwich and Scott Sinclair of Swansea and I don’t think it’s any real surprise that all three teams are doing well. But it’s Taarabt that has really caught the imagination of the fans. This was confirmed with Taarabt being voted as the best player in the Championship this season.

Taarabt and QPR have had a fine season and it really has been the skilful Moroccan that has made QPR tick. However, Taarabt has done more than simply pass the ball and set goals up, as he has also weighed in with 15 goals this season, making him QPR’s top scorer. Still being young and having international experience makes him ideally placed to make his mark in the Premier League next season.

The truth is he hasn’t just been ok this season, but he has been sensational. In a way though that may be a problem for QPR, because I can see him making an impact similar to that Charlie Adam has made and it won’t be long before big clubs will fire in bids for him. The fact that QPR play quite a direct system may mean Taarabt would want to move on sooner or later to a total passing football team and Arsenal have been mentioned in the past. However for now, QPR have a quite superb player on their books and if he did move on whilst under contract it would be for a massive transfer fee.

It also appears that Taarabt has a very high opinion of himself and will look to move to a big club, it will be up to QPR to prove they can meet his expectations and create an atmosphere that he can express himself in. Taarabt may feel he owes some loyalty to QPR for rescuing him from Spurs. But above all my opinion is that he will light up the Premier League next season and will be a very exciting player to watch.

However, what do you think? Has Taarabt found his level this season or will he dazzle us all next year in the Premier League? Which other current Championship players could do well in the Premier League?
