Arguably the TEN Unsung Premier League Players of the 2011/12 season

Praise is often lavished upon the stars of the Premier League, whilst the dependable performers, mostly at less glamorous clubs are forgotten about. Time and time again it’s these men who prove to be the difference between European football and mid-table obscurity or relegation from the top flight and the security of another season in the profitable division.

They do deserve the praise they so often miss out on, pitching in with vital goals, timely assists or solid defensive work, all for the good of the team. Media attention is usually heaped upon those clubs in upper echelons of the Premier League, with almost every member of their squad’s performances being analysed by the experts, and praise being heaped upon them all, deserved or not.

This list celebrates those men who put a shift in each week for their clubs, performing above expectations and getting the best out of their team mates. It’s only a matter of time before some of these players will move on to a bigger stage, and become the subject of the attention they nearly always warrant.

They may not be superstars, but they are important players who perform consistently away from the glare of the spotlight.
