Arsenal keen on Bayern Munich striker

Arsenal are considering a move for Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic in a bid to solve their attacking woes, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Gunners have been linked with a number of front-men of late, and with news that Nicklas Bendtner is set to miss around two months of action Arsene Wenger is ready to step up his transfer plans.

The Dane is believed to have torn ligaments in his ankle, which will leave the club with only Olivier Giroud – who is also suffering through injury – and Lukas Podolski as orthodox central forward options.

Wenger is believed to be watching multiple targets, but is becoming increasingly interested in Mandzukic.

The Croatian hit-man has been one of Bayern’s top performers for some time, but his future has been plunged into doubt following news of Robert Lewandowski’s planned arrival.

The Polish ace is set to complete a controversial free transfer to the Allianz Arena from bitter rivals Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season, which could see Mandzukic’s chances of action decrease.

This has alerted Wenger, but the Frenchman may have to wait until the end of the season to move for the 27-year-old, with Bayern unlikely to sell until a replacement is in place.
