In the latest of a seemingly endless list of ridiculous incidents involving Aston Villa this season, Gabby Agbonlahor has been pictured taking laughing gas.
Yes, you read that right, the former Villa captain, stripped of his armband, instead of working hard to restore some long lost pride has poured more fuel on the Villa implosion with this latest stunt that has once again left him suspended by the club.
Photos in The Sun show the Villa frontman inhaling the legal high nitrous oxide and drinking with friends and fans – clearly not Villa ones. It is the latest in a long line of shocking misdemeanours from the local lad, who has already been under investigation this season by the club for smoking shisha pipe in Dubai during the international break in March.
It is another unwelcome reminder for supporters of the club at just how little the players seem to care.
It is a sorry story as well in light of the direction that Agbonlahor’s career has taken. Part of a strong side under Martin O’Neill that finished sixth three times in a row as recently as 2010, great things were expected from the man known as ‘Mr. Aston Villa.’ Explosive pace, good finishing and a supposed love of the club were meant to propel Agbonlahor and Villa onto greater things, and a possible place at Europe’s top table.
He was even touted as a possible international for England, but that quite frankly is a very distant memory now.
