Caption Competition: Pardew gets an Unpleasant Welcome

This week Alan Pardew was appointed as Newcastle United manager. Has the world gone mad? No, is the answer, but Newcastle do have a chairman called Mike Ashley, which explains it all really. Just when you think Ashley couldn’t alienate the Newcastle fans any more he does just that. Chris Hughton was doing fairly well, so of course he got rid of him and replaced him with Mr Pardew. What do the Toon Army think about this? Well, they’re quite rightly utterly disgusted and now relegation fears have grown markedly and any stability the club had has gone right out the window. The photographers in the image surely couldn’t have imagined Alan Pardew walking out at St James’ Park any time soon and the rest of us sure as hell couldn’t. You can’t imagine Pardew getting a fantastic reception on Saturday evening when Newcastle host Liverpool, but what’s actually going through his mind as he returns to the Premiership?
