Chelsea made a statement of intent when they sold Petr Cech last summer. The Blues had seen Cech as their number one for over a decade and it was a changing of the guard. Thibaut Courtois was the Blues’ new man between the sticks and he was lauded over by Mourinho and the fans. Courtois, since his injury at the start of the season, has been struggling.
His poor form has seen howlers against several sides, including a bizarre bottle-job against Stoke, but the flailing save that flattered Lanzini’s shot against West Ham today is one of the worst. It looked a screamer, yet the Belgian keeper has pushed himself too far forwards and was basically lobbed.
Its not taken too long for Chelsea fans to really lose their faith in their stopper…
Courtois was good in Spain cos he only conceded Tap ins now we see that he's another fraud overrated Cech was 100 times better same age #cfc

Courtois beaten over his head for the umpteenth time. Footwork useless. So frustrating how much he has regressed without Cech competition.

The critics are common, the keeper has failed to live up to his potential and the Blues are losing out as a result.
A tumultuous campaign has been damaged further by their error in allowing Cech to leave. The Champions League winning keeper might have wanted the move, but Courtois has lost out from being granted such security in his position. A shadow of last season, Courtois’ poor form is haunting the Chelsea board as they continue to rebuild after the whirlwind of Jose Mourinho ripped a title winning squad to shreds.
