Chelsea come into this one fresh from their chaotic match against Manchester United and the Blues are still boasting an unbeaten record since Guus Hiddink took charge before Christmas.
The Magpies have been all over the place for much of this campaign and have developed quite a reputation for performing when the TV cameras are in town, as they are for this fixture. Newcastle are lingering above the relegation zone, still, despite sizeable January investment and Chelsea are looking up at the remaining faint hope of European football next season.
Diego Costa’s return to form will have Coloccini and Mbemba quaking in their boots about the mischief the Spaniard will get up to, whilst Wijnaldum and Sissoko possess all the attributes to trouble a sluggish Chelsea defence. The Blues’ have had real problems against Newcastle over the last few years, despite their differing league fortunes.
Kurt Zouma’s season ending injury means we are almost guaranteed to see the return of the Terry-Cahill centre back partnership and all the associated hilarity.
Team to face Newcastle: Courtois; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry (c), Azpilicueta; Fabregas, Matic; Pedro, Willian, Hazard; Diego Costa. #CFC
