Tottenham fans rejoice. I’m sure many of them have spent this last weekend thinking they are in some kind of dream. A 2-1 win away to Stoke must have surprised many, especially after first hearing that Jermain Defoe would be out and then seeing their most in form player hobble of with an injury. None the less, Spurs showed that this season, the White Hart Lane faithful can really start believing that this team not only has the talent, but also the bottle, to hold on the illusive final Champions League spot.

Monday afternoon provided me with the perfect opportunity to find out what Spurs fans around White Hart Lane really think. Sitting in a cafe just round the corner from the Club shop, I got chatting with Spurs fan Alex Agothacleus. He, as with many others, is feeling optimistic about the final run in and believes the performances against Stoke and away at Blackburn have shown that the team now have the grit to push them forward.

“The wins at Stoke and Ewood Park show that we have toughened up. Harry’s influence is starting to show and he’s signed some good players like Palacios and Kranjcar. I think it’s definitely looking good for the next few games”

Just a few metres down the road we came across Graham just outside the Club Shop. He remains confident but claims past seasons have taught him to be a little cautious.

“I hope we can hold on, I really do but I’ve felt like this so many times in previous seasons and it’s gone down the pan. I’d love nothing more than to see the club in the Champions league next season but I guess my previous experiences have made me a little cynical. I was there at Upton Park and I don’t want to feel like I did that day again. Fingers crossed hey!”

So it seems the verdict is very mixed. The win at Stoke will have undoubtedly given the fans and players a massive confidence boost. Stoke are not an easy side to play against and their home record speaks for itself. They have lost just 5 games at home which include just Birmingham outside the top 4. It was of course Stoke who inflicted a 1-0 win at White Hart Lane so to see their team win will have been heart-warming for Spurs fans. The Harry Redknapp effect seems to be working. A number of astute signings and a run in the FA Cup is helping Tottenham regain the reputation they once had. Andy, who owns an electrical shop near White Hart Lane, is full of confidence coming into the final run in.

“Yeah they are looking good. I think to go to Stoke and get a win shows how far we’ve come. Last season we crumbled at places like that. Even without Jermain as well but Gudjohnsen came on and did the business. Harry’s working his magic so hopefully I can look forward to fourth place and a trip to Wembley. He won it with Portsmouth so why not with us.”

Indeed a good point. Tottenham certainly have the talent, and they are starting to look like a top team. The fans will be hoping they can stay injury free and avoid any dodgy dinners before the end of this season.

These fans have told us their opinion. What’s yours??
