Football FanCast guest columnist Tom Brazier feels that Carson Yeung should brace himself for a long wait if he hopes to see Birmingham surpass Aston Villa.
I doubt I was the only Villa fan who had a little choke on their breakfast this morning having read the drivel coming out of Birmingham City and the grand plans for the future.
Of course we have heard this all before, but looking to Aston Villa as the rival they'll be looking to surpass is absolutely laughable, especially given the amount of League titles, FA Cups, League Cups and European trophies they'll have to win to get a close. I have heard club chairman talk of five year plans before but for the Blue noses to surpass Villa; it is probably closer to fifty.
I know I shouldn't rain on their parade, to be honest most of their supporters will end up doing that for themselves, given their fickle nature and how they believe they have this divine right to be successful. I don't think I'll ever understand the thinking that a) they have a better tactical know how than McLeish or b) the very fact they are a Premier League club, after a year in the Championship, and they cannot sell out St Andrews for home games. It shows what kind of supporters they really are and why it will take more than a plea from the new owners to start buying tickets, to change the mindset of their unappreciative support. No doubt a few of them will return in the coming weeks, as that's what they do, but Carson Yeung will have his work cut out to pacify some of the club's delusional support.
