As the Guardian have reported, Nigel de Jong has completed his move to LA Galaxy, joining up with both Steven Gerrard and Ashley Cole.
The former Manchester City man had his contract cancelled by AC Milan last month and it opened the doors for a free transfer move to the MLS. Having been Milan captain, the Dutchman made 79 Serie A appearances for the club before moving to the Californian retirement home of LA Galaxy.
As the American season starts in March, De Jong has time to settle in the country and gel with his new team mates before the competitive games begin.
At only 31 years old and with 80 caps for Holland, some Premier League fans might be wondering why their club didn’t move for this midfield enforcer in the January window.
The MLS now boasts a vast array of big names and De Jong joins Didier Drogba, Kaka, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.
