The current England squad is something which has caused many a debate as of late, especially following the country's embarrassing early exit from Euro 2016 this summer at the hands of Iceland.

With seemingly a plethora of talent at our disposal, fans and critics alike seem to fail to agree on who should be in the current squad as the national side once again find themselves in a comfortable qualifying group for the 2018 World Cup.

While many fans were pleased with former manager Sam Allardyce's squad - which included the likes of the in-form Michail Antonio and excluded Bournemouth's Jack Wilshere - it was not one that was to last long as Big Sam was given the axe after only one game in charge.

Now with only Gareth Southgate to turn to as our country's saviour, EA Sports have chipped in with their helpful suggestion following the release of the much anticipated FIFA 17.

According to the newly released game, the following XI is the best England could put out. Do you think this bunch would qualify for the World Cup?

Goalkeeper

Joe Hart

A tough one, but maybe EA have got it spot on with their rating of Joe Hart at 84.

Despite a tough summer, his loan move to Torino looks to be working out and the Englishman looks to have regained his confidence.

Surprisingly, though, both Jack Butland (82) and Ben Foster (80) are rated higher than Southampton's Fraser Forster, which is laughable.

Back Four

Across the back four, England would line up like this if EA Sports are to be believed, from right to left: Clyne (81), Terry (84), Smalling (84) and Baines (83).

Starts well, ends badly. Clyne is the obvious first choice ahead of Kyle Walker, with a rating of 81 perhaps being a tad harsh on the pacy wing-back, and John Terry certainly still has the ability to step-up at international level if he were to be called upon.

Chris Smalling ahead of both Gary Cahill and John Stones, however, is a topic for debate, while Leighton Baines at left-back feels like it may have been correct back in FIFA 13.

Left-back is one of England's strongest positions, with Danny Rose, Luke Shaw and Ryan Bertrand all capable of a performance, but it seems EA have stuck with their favourite mop-headed mod this time around.

Midfield

Now things get really interesting. Raheem Sterling takes his place out-wide right with a rating of 82, while Adam Lallana fills the other flank with the same rating. Not too much argument here but centre midfield is a different ball game altogether.

Arsenal turned Bournemouth flop Jack Wilshere (really?) is allegedly England's strongest out-and-out central midfielder, eclipsing the likes of Dele Alli, Eric Dier and James Milner.

Next up - with controversy sure to ensue - is Wayne Rooney, with a generous rating of 84 as he takes the role of attacking midfielder, one that he has thus far proved he is utterly incapable of performing in.

Have EA been watching the same league as the rest of the world over the last 12 months, or are they stuck watching an eternal look of a 2010 edition of Premier League years on Sky Sports?

Strikers

Harry Kane and Daniel Sturridge (both 84) complete the not so all-star XI as they occupy the two spaces up top.

If the pair's performances for the national side in the summer and so far this season for their clubs are anything to go by, it seems unjustified that Jamie Vardy misses out on a spot here, and likewise for Jermain Defoe, who can consider himself hard done by after a brilliant campaign just gone.

Marcus Rashford understandably misses out as it would be too much to be rating the youngster higher than the aforementioned just yet. For FIFA 18, however, who knows?

Do you agree with this England XI?
