In an enthralling Premier League encounter at Stamford Bridge last night, Chelsea came from behind to beat Manchester United 2-1 and in turn do a favour for Arsenal in the race for the Premier League title.

Man United were the better team in the first half and Sir Alex Ferguson’s men were rewarded for their efforts when Wayne Rooney fired home from outside the penalty area after he was given too much space by the Chelsea defence. Carlo Ancelotti’s men upped the tempo in the second half and drew level through a smart David Luiz finish.

The Brazilian defender was then lucky to stay on the pitch after clashes with Chicharito and Rooney, and a further refereeing decision went Chelsea’s way as Yuri Zhirkov was awarded a cheap penalty after a trip by Chris Smalling. Frank Lampard stepped up and smashed the ball home to give Chelsea all three points and just to rub salt into United’s wounds Nemanja Vidic was sent off for a second bookable offence late on.
