Everton bounced back from the disappointment of crashing out of the FA Cup at the hands of Reading in the best possible way, by coming from behind to beat Newcastle 2-1 at St James’ Park.
Everton fell behind to a Leon Best header, but equalised through Leon Osman who finished off a swift counter attack. David Moyes’ men took the lead before the break, as Leighton Baines’ dangerous free kick was guided home by Phil Jagielka. In the second half Everton had plenty of chances to give themselves a cushion but failed to take them. However, it didn’t matter as the Toffees stood firm at the back and earned all three points to move them further clear of the Premier League relegation zone.
