Newcastle will be disappointed to leave St James’ Park with nothing today, as an entertaining Premier League encounter with Everton was won 2-1 by the Toffees.

Newcastle started sluggishly, but took the lead half-way through the first half as Leon Best was left with a simple header after Tim Howard parried Kevin Nolan’s shot. Newcastle pressed for an equaliser in the second half but to no avail, and their day was further worsened by an injury to Jose Enrique.
