Heartbreak for Sergio Sanchez

News was coming out of Spain earlier this week that  it looks like the Sevilla right back would not play football ever again. Quite sad news that he was diagnosed with heart condition earlier this year and has not figured since.

Sergio Sanchez was signed by Sevilla in the summer from Espanyol for €4m and has only figured in 6 games all season as he is playing 2nd fiddle to Abdoulay Konko. Sanchez started out his career at Espanyol and being loaned out to Real Madrid B team for the 06/07 season and for the 07/08 season he was loaned out to Racing Santander. In July 2008 Espanyol wanted him back in the squad and he went onto play for the entire season on the right hand side of defence.

It is good that this got found out earlier, because Spain has lost 2 young fantastic talents in the past 3 years in Antonio Puerta and Daniel Jarque. The memory of those 2 players lives long in the hearts of Espanyol and Sevilla fans and fans across the round. Let’s hope for a speedy recovery for Sergio Sanchez and that he can flourish his career outside of football.
