I bet most of you who visit this website spent last night laid back in your sofa eating a meat lover's pizza that increase your cholesterol levels and double your chances of suffering cardiac arrest. You probably also enjoyed a cold beer or five as you watched the match of your choice, either it was City's brilliant comeback at the Allianz Arena or Man United's return to winning ways at Old Trafford.Well, that is roughly what I did too, only instead of pizza I ate some posh mini-burgers and other nibbles, and the beer was free, compliments of the good people from Heineken. Oh yeah, and Owen Hargreaves was there to hang out.Such was the setting as I attended the Heineken 'Share the Sofa' event Tuesday night in central London. Although Manchester United v Shaktar Donetsk, the game of our choice for the evening, was a dull affair (we should've seen the Bayer v City game, eh!) it's safe to say the mood in the sofa made up for the lack of excitement radiating from the telly. The main purpose of the Share the Sofa campaign is of course to give us fans a chance to get our questions answered by our boyhood heroes. And looking back at it, I have to give credit to Mr Hargreaves. For those of you who joined the fun on Twitter, I'm sure you will agree the guy actually answers a question, which is a lot more than you'd expect from a professional nowadays. To mention a few highlights, I was personally intrigued to hear that the guy never had the slightest regret over turning down Germany to play for England. He might have an accent lying somewhere in a junction of American, German, British, and Gru from Dispicable Me, but his patriotism is not in question. He can also boast to probably be the only man to ever be given a free kick by Cristiano Ronaldo, as Hargo reveled that the Portuguese fancied his chances of scoring above his own ahead of the Champions League final in 2008.I find it hard to imagine a better way to consume a football match on TV than being at the scene for Heineken Share the Sofa. Although having to occasionally endure the social media people having constant photo shoots and frantically Vining pizza orders, it was pretty much like watching a game of football with your mates - only you have free access to Heinekens, and one your mates just happened to be the man who won the league for Manchester United with a perfect free kick against Arsenal five and half years ago.I believe there is a lot more to come from the Heineken team on this front too, as I got the vibe there some major stuff being planned for the knock-out stages come the new year. After all, having already hosted players like Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Fernando Morientes and our man Owen Hargreaves there are clear signs we can expect interesting stuff from these guys.Credit to Heineken for a quality concept, and to Mr Hargreaves for not getting too bothered when I morphed into a football equivalent of a Belieber.Just a selection of what we posted
