Football FanCast guest columnist Stephen Malone wonders if Newcastle should sacrifice Tim Krul in order to strengthen elsewhere.
You may love or loathe Tim Krul as a player and believe he is the future of Newcastle United, but he is also a guy who in the past weeks has attempted to rain on Chris Hughton's parade and the excellent work that he has put in this season.
Perhaps I shouldn't be so sensitive about the Dutchman's words, I mean they are known for their arrogant and outspoken traits, but they were totally inappropriate in my opinion, especially towards the one man at the football club that has shown total professionalism, an incredible amount of dignity and has done an incredible job in keeping this football club together. If Krul wants out in January then should we be so oppose to it, it is not as if the funds generated from the sale can't be utilised elsewhere.
I think the situation we find ourselves in at the minute and Ashley claiming that Hughton will only be given a shoestring budget, then it is clear that perhaps we may have to sacrifice players in order to boost the transfer kitty and to be honest while I see Krul as someone in the long term that could be an excellent player for the club, I would rather get rid of those who are not committed to the cause and those who feel the need to question the manager. Hughton deserves better than that and if we have any hope of returning to the Premier League, then we need everyone singing from the same hymn sheet.
