Karim Benzema has reiterated his commitment to Real Madrid by pledging his future to the club, claiming that he will be with the Galacticos ‘forever’.

The French striker has been linked with United for the past year now, but the player has once again dismissed rumours of him making a switch to Old Trafford this summer.

Sir Alex Ferguson made it clear that the former Lyon hitman was his number one target last summer, but the French international opted for a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid for €35 million, leaving Fergie to look elsewhere.

This season, the 22-year-old striker has struggled to make an impact for his club, following the arrivals of big-money signings Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka. Since then, Karim Benzema’s chances have been limited at the Bernabeu. The player has managed to make a total of 24 appearances in La Liga (10 of which he came off the bench) and netted 7 times in the process. Whilst under the management of Manuel Pellegrini, Benzema has dropped to fourth choice in the pecking order, behind Ronaldo, Kaka, Higuain and even the legendary Raul. Despite all this the French striker is determined to make his future work at Real Madrid, by proving his worth to the team and fight for a starting XI position. Just recently he told the daily French newspaper, L’Equipe:

"I can't see my first season at Real as a failure. Of course, I would have preferred it to go more smoothly, but I played. And when you see a man like Raul on the bench you learn a lot. I didn't come for one season. I signed for six years and everyone at the club trusts me."

He goes on to add:

'I am very happy at Real Madrid. I want to stay forever. I can play better. I just need more time, you haven’t seen the best of Benzema.'

With Dimitar Berbatov struggling with form for United this season, rumours suggest that Fergie is set to launch another bid for the talented striker and lure him to the theatre of dreams this summer. Not only will United be interested in the revelation of Benzema, but most definitely other clubs around Europe will be monitoring his movements in the next few months.

Karim Benzema has unquestionable ability stored within him. He is a quality striker, and when on form and firing the man is deadly. He is a unique player to have at your disposal, and possibly could feature in any squad around the world. Given the chance and under the right guidance and management he can be, one day, the best striker in the world.

A Majority of United fans will feel that Fergie should do his utmost to bring the French international to Old Trafford next season. The United boss will need to strengthen his side for next year’s European and domestic campaign after this year’s journey looks to be ending only with the success of the Carling cup in the bag. A number of United fans may feel as if they have adequate cover and a proper strike partner for Wayne Rooney already, so they shouldn’t bother wasting the money. On the other hand, many others will feel differently, claiming they need a world class forward to storm Europe once again.

With the tactics and formation of United these days, do they really need another striker? If they succeed this time round in capturing Benzema, will Fergie modify his strategy for next season? It’s all questions at this stage, and the only man with the answers is the United boss.

As for Karim Benzema, The striker seems pretty assured with himself that his future is set in stone with Real Madrid forever. However, with the likelihood of another manager being installed into the club this summer, nothing is guaranteed for the number 10 Real Madrid man.
