Man City star wants to set the record straight

Ivory Coast and Manchester City midfielder Yaya ToureThe African Cup of Nations kicks off this weekend and after Zambia shocked the world by winning the competition last time round, we’re looking forward to a three weeks of swashbuckling football from South Africa.

One of the favourites for the trophy is the Ivory Coast and after narrowly missing out to underdogs Zambia in 2012, The Elephants are sure to be determined to set the record straight and return from Johannesburg on February 10th victorious.

One man who will have a bearing on the side’s success is Manchester City player Yaya Touré, whose performances as the heartbeat of the Citizens’ midfield helped them lift the Premier League title for the first time in 44 years.

His ability to move from defence to attack is invaluable to any team and after his domestic success, he’ll be hoping he can add an African Cup of Nations Winners’ medal to his already bulging trophy cabinet.

Click on the video below to see what Touré thinks of his country’s chances in this year’s competition, the mood in the camp and what makes him tick as a professional footballer
