Man United newbie rejected Liverpool, Arsenal & Man City

Radamel Falcao rejected advances from Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool before joining Manchester United, according to his dad.

The Colombian forward stole the deadline day headlines as he completed a big money loan move to Old Trafford from Monaco after a summer of uncertainty.

Over the course of the window the South American was linked with the majority of Europe’s elite sides, with Liverpool, City and Arsenal all having shown an interest in him.

And the 28-year-old’s father, Radamel Garcia, says that his son turned down the trio, as well as Juventus, to sign for a United – whom he hailed as a “great” team:

‘Manchester United is the most important team in England and one of the most powerful financially,’ he said.

“Now he [Falcao] must perform at his best to continue winning.” He is quoted by The Metro.

“Fortunately he has adapted to European football and in the teams where he has been in Argentina it was easily done too.

“Juventus, Manchester City, Liverpool also approached him and Arsenal at the last minute.

“Fortunately, he ended up at Manchester United, a great team that he has to lead forward.”

Falcao’s loan deal has cost United a reported £6m, while his wages are understood to be worth around £350,000-per-week.

Louis van Gaal’s side also have the option to make the deal a permanent one for what could cost them about £70m in total.
