Jose Mourinho is eager to lure a new defender to Manchester United before the end of the transfer window and wants a player in the mould of Red Devils hero, Nemanja Vidic, according to reports from ESPN.
The Serbian enforcer was known for his commanding and rugged playing style, which led to him captaining the club under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Although his performance levels dropped off dramatically towards the end of his Man United career, Vidic is still considered to be an Old Trafford hero, and reports claim that signing a player in his mould is a priority for Mourinho.
Although Eric Bailly has been snapped up, ‘Mou’ is not yet content with his rearguard options.
Southampton’s Jose Fonte has been discussed, as has Leonardo Bonucci of Juventus, but Mourinho is eager to fully assess potential options with around a month of the transfer window left.
One player that does not fit the bill though is Everton’s John Stones, who is seen as more of a ball-playing defender.
