Sol Campbell has given Newcastle United the green-light to make their move, as the defender revealed he is keen to join the Championship giants.
Campbell is currently without a club at present, having walked out on Notts County after just one game in League Two and is reportedly training at Arsenal’s training complex in order to maintain his fitness levels.
The 35-year-old is currently awaiting clearance to release his registration to resume his playing career and has suggested that a move to Newcastle United, who are one of many club’s interested, would be his desired choice:
Campbell said: “I have been approached by several clubs and Newcastle are one of them.
“People might be surprised to hear me say that I would be very interested in a move there, but I have my reasons.
“Newcastle are a big club and could be heading back to the Premier League.” (Sun)
