Football FanCast guest columnist Lee Fitzpatrick feels that Ferguson should take Ben Foster out of the firing line.
Another week and yet another goalkeeping clangers from Ben Foster has cost United dear and seemingly his England place as well.
I'm not writing this to slight the guy, or put him down in anyway, but the time has come now for Fergie to take him out of the firing line for the foreseeable future and give Kuszczak the gig to stand in during Van der Sar's absence. Foster's confidence has simply been shot to pieces, therefore Old Trafford hardly represents the best place to be to try and recover it.
His mistakes are proving far too dear at the moment and where a Michael Owen and an Anton Ferdinand own goal was able to bail us out and grab points for us, we cannot rely on that happening every other week. I am sure that I am not the only United fan who winces everytime a ball gets whipped in, or a set piece is taking. If he doesn't inspire any confidence in us, then what is he doing to the rest of the team?
I'm not suggesting that Foster is finished at United, because I actually believe that he has great ability, but at the moment we cannot afford to have a keeper, who is indecisive and totally devoid of any confidence. Perhaps a spell in the reserves or a couple of month's loan may do him the world of good and enable him to regain his match sharpness and confidence, but he, like us supporters, needs to be put out of our misery and he needs to be taken out of the Old Trafford firing line, before we end up throwing away more valuable points.
