According to reports in The Daily Mail earlier this month, Sunderland are one of the clubs interested in signing Dundee defensive midfielder Glen Kamara.
The 22-year-old has been in impressive form for the Scottish Premiership outfit having joined them from Arsenal in the summer of 2017, and Black Cats boss Jack Ross is reportedly keen to bring the Finland international south of the border to the Stadium of Light.
If Kamara does end up arriving on Wearside, he would likely be competing with the likes of captain George Honeyman, Dylan McGeouch, Max Power and Lee Cattermole for a starting XI spot in the middle of the park.
The latter hasn’t always been a popular figure among Sunderland fans in recent seasons because of his disappointing performances in their slide down the divisions, but he has stepped up to the plate and been one of their best players this term as they look to return to the Championship at the first time of asking.
The 30-year-old was even handed the captain’s armband again in the win against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday, and so it would certainly be an unthinkable decision by Ross to drop him even if Kamara does end up signing in the New Year.
We asked Sunderland supporters to vote on our poll to see whether they would want to see Cattermole dropped in favour of Kamara, and a majority 72% said they wouldn’t – as you can see from the results below.
