Jose Mourinho’s strategy to get the best out of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial this season has been to only use one at a time – their statuses in the starting XI interlinked with the form and fitness of the other.
It’s certainly had the desired effect so far; Martial has scored the most goals from the bench of any Premier League player this season, while Rashford’s influence has only seen his reputation grow both at Old Trafford and within the England fold.
But that does leave Mourinho facing essentially the same dilemma for every game; which one to start and which to leave on the bench. We posed that exact question to Manchester United fans earlier this week ahead of arguably the Red Devils’ biggest challenge of the season so far – a trip to Stamdord Bridge to face reigning champions Chelsea this Sunday.
And according to our poll, the majority of United supporters would prefer Martial to start in west London. That doesn’t mean Rashford can’t have an impact though; as Mourinho has said many times this season, his two youngster often benefit from each other’s hard work.
