There is an uncanny resemblance between Iain Dowie and the severely disfigured character ‘Sloth’ from the 1985 comedy film the Goonies.
Regarded as one of the ugliest footballer to ever walk the planet, any kids or people of a nervous disposition should look away now.
During his 13 year-old career as an old-fashioned centre-forward, Dowie wasn’t one to wimp out a challenge and as a result took plenty of clouts to the face. Now plying his trade as a run-of-the-mill manager, Dowie bares the brunt of his playing career with his odd looking face, one similar to ‘Sloth’.
Dowie had a successful start to his management career with Crystal Palace taking them to the Premier League before he departed to join Charlton. However didn’t last long at the Valley when he was sacked after just 15 games in charge. He then had a spell at Coventry for the 2007/08 season but left in February 2008. He then ended up at QPR but again only lasted 15 games in charge before he was removed as manager.
He was last seen in a management role in Yorkshire as he failed to keep Hull City in the Premier League in his position as ‘Football Management Consultant’.
Currently out of work, he is now working as a pundit for Sky Sports including on their Soccer Saturday coverage so you get to regularly see his ugly mug. Not something to look forward to every weekend.
