The Premier League’s WAG XI of the season – The 2nd String!

WAGS, WAGS, WAGS… the media just can’t get enough of them and as we approached the end of the season we couldn’t resist compiling our two WAG XI’s of the season. Having compiled the 1st XI last week, we felt the need to share and display our second string.

You may have noticed that Vanessa Perroncel makes a second appearance, but we felt given the amount of Premier League players that she has had that she is worthy of another run-out.

Just click on the individual images of beauties to upload their galleries, so you can get a look of them in greater detail!

GK – Yolanda Ruiz – The similarities between next door neighbours and fellow Spaniards Pepe Reina and Fernando Torres in terms of their love lives run deep. Like Torres, Liverpool goalkeeper Reina is married to his long-term girlfriend Yolanda Ruiz, with the pair tying the knot in Cordoba in 2006 prior to the World Cup. Like Dominguez pictures of Ruiz are hard to come across, with a couple of wedding snaps and a shopping trip and celebrity appearance with Dominguez the best we could get our hands on. But the Spanish brunette is definitely worth a second look and is a decent catch for Reina.

Emergency DEF – Janelle Khouri – Owen Hargreaves and current squeeze Janelle Khouri the happiest and most love fulfilled people on the entire planet. I say ‘squeeze’, incidentally, not because I have suddenly turned into Heat magazine’s ‘Spotted section, but because to do anything with Hargreaves above light petting would be to jeopardise his chances of appearing in England’s 2010 World Cup campaign.

DEF – Toni Poole – Whatever attracted you to multi-millionaire John Terry, Miss Poole? Clearly not the sharpest tool in the box and clearly someone lacking self-respect given the way she forgave her husband after his recent exploits.

DEF -Vanessa Perroncel – The WAG at the centre of the current scandal involving current Chelsea star John Terry and former Blue Wayne Bridge, Perroncel must have caused quite a stir at Stamford Bridge. After failing to get a super-injunction, it came out in the press last week that Terry had an affair with Perroncel last year in what it hardly Dad of the Year behaviour. The story is so huge because the French model and actress was the former girlfriend of Terry’s now seemingly former best mate Wayne Bridge. It doesn’t take long to see why Vanessa Perroncel has footballers chasing after her.

MID – Lisa Roughead – Unfortunate name, but that shouldn’t count against her when picking your favourite Manchester United WAG. Lisa Roughead actually married United midfielder Michael Carrick in 2007 on the same day that fellow Premier League stars Steven Gerrard and Gary Neville also tied the knot, which doesn’t seem like great planning. The Geordie became a proud dad in 2008 with the birth of his first daughter Louise in 2008, and he has done well for himself by settling down with the curvy blonde who is the outsider on this list, bet is well worth a second glance.

MID – Christine Bleakley – You might, but probably don’t, remember Bleakley from her stint on Strictly Come Dancing, where, per the reality show tradition, she was beaten in her final dance off by a Rage Against the Machine song. Or you might recognise her from her role as front man in BBC’s One Show, where she is happy to partner, up front, Adrian Chiles, with whom she was also romantically linked with following his divorce, on BBC’s One Show.

MID – Kimberley Mills – David Bentley has profited from an injury to Aaron Lennon in recent weeks to earn his place in the limelight once more after an extended period of time left sitting on the bench, but his long-term girlfriend does an admirable job of keeping herself to herself. However, that means that we haven’t got to see much of Kimberley Mills and that’s a real shame as she scrubs up rather well. The blonde hairdresser did make an appearance in Nuts TV’s Real Footballer’s Wives in one of her few public appearances, but a lack of exposure shouldn’t be held against her.

MID – Holly Jay –  long term girlfriend of Arsenal’s Mark Randall, got her “big break,” according to justarsenal.com, when she featured in Zoo magazine’s ‘Gimmie a job’ feature. “She certainly has the qualifications to go far in her chosen career,” say the website. “And we don’t mean her 10 GCSEs,” they go on to further clarify.

ST – Claudine Palmer – Though Robbie Keane’s sporting career boasts the wildly yawing trajectory of the type usually associated with the bullet that killed Kennedy, his domestic life assumes a more placid tone, last year marriage to Claudine Palmer coming at the end of a six year courtship for the couple.

ST – Sophie Houghton – Macheda scored crucial goals in last season’s run in for United, but it quickly became hilariously apparent that he was terrible, leaden of foot and with the type of feeble gait that must make walking in this snow we’re having a nightmare for him. But, as a footballer of some repute of the time, he secured a Wag, The Wirrel’s own Sophie Houghton. Houghton is the current Miss Intercontinental Liverpool, however that’s supposed to work, and the pair met on Facebook, which was a popular website at the time.

ST – Imogen Thomas – Although apparently single at the moment (watch out ladies), one of Jermain Defoe’s most recent WAGs was Welsh beauty Imogen Thomas. The 2003 winner of Miss Wales appeared in Big Brother in 2006 and by dating Defoe she became one of many reality TV stars to become a footballer’s WAG. She took the conventional route from reality TV to general celebrity but her relationship with Defoe was always likely to be short lived. The glamour model cited that she preferred to stay at home and with Defoe renowned for hitting the nightclubs their time together was quickly over.
