The top TEN football takeovers that went badly wrong

Having seen Manchester City snaffle the Premier League title last season mainly thanks to the vast financial resources of their owners, supporters of every other club in the league prays at night for their own Sheikh to ride in and lift their club to glory. Such is football these days that many teams are suffering from financial ruin, indeed just ask Rangers what they’d do for a white knight to come in and save the day (even if it’s too late now).

The costs of chasing the dream are there for all to see, take a look at Portsmouth’s current plight, or in fact Leeds United, who are the famous example of how cruel the game can be when all goes wrong in a financial sense. Foreign (or even homegrown) owners are welcomed at all clubs then to make sure the future is secure in a money sense, but beware; some takeovers can go badly wrong.
