Chelsea have a new manager in Antonio Conte and with his arrival, there have been many rumours about which players are coming and going.
One name that has been making the back pages more and more is Romelu Lukaku. The former Chelsea forward made only a handful appearances for the club before being sent out on loan to West Brom and Everton. Since his permanent move to the Toffees, Lukaku has become one of the best forwards in the Premier League. And now, Chelsea want to make up for their mistake.
There is no denying the talent, but is he the best man to lead the line for Chelsea? Lukaku does disappear at times and without the sufficient service played into the area, Lukaku has a hard time finishing.
He does create goals for himself, but his style doesn’t fit that bill. There are loads of players out there who are world class, but here are three signings that would be better than Romelu Lukaku at Chelsea…
He is one of the best forwards in this generation. Zlatan has scored goals no matter where he has played. Although he is getting up their in age, the Swede has proven he still produce at any level with the only league he hasn’t played in is the Premier League.
The striker can score from long range, from free kicks, or amazing individual efforts. He comes with a lot of baggage, but Chelsea is used to that.
In fact, they welcome big personality.
Another PSG forward looking for a new start, he would excel in Chelsea. He has similar traits to Ibra, but Cavani does more work on the defensive side. Cavani is clincal in front of goal, which is much desired at Chelsea.
Having an understanding of what style the Italian manager will implement is crucial in Cavani’s future success at Chelsea.
He seems to be rumoured with every major English club as the Gabonese forward looks to test the waters elsewhere.
Aubameyang would inject lightning fast pace up top for Chelsea. The forward not only brings pace, but he has the ability to hold up play for support to come.
Chelsea need some more creative players in the side. Aubameyang offers that over Lukaku. While Lukaku likes to use his brute force to make his mark, Aubameyang likes to run through the channels and create on his own.
He would be praised at Chelsea for the impact he’d make.
