Three reasons why Liverpool v Manchester City next week will decide the title

No doubt we are in for a few more twists and turns from now until the end of the season but the table is beginning to take shape.

Liverpool have been the underdogs all season long but the Anfield crowd really do believe that this is their season, and who can blame them?

Brendan Rodgers has completely revamped the club and it would take a cruel person to say they don’t deserve some glory at the end of this campaign.

Chelsea’s form has dipped, with one win and three defeats in their last four games – the worst possibly timing from Mourinho’s men – leaving City with the games in hand and points available to win the league.

However City travel to Liverpool next week and the winner there could well become the champions, here is why.

Chelsea’s form

The Blues will more than likely go on and beat Stoke this evening, but after their crumble in Paris in midweek coupled with poor results against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa in previous weeks they are up against it.

Chelsea do still have to go to Anfield too and only a win there will keep them in the race you would imagine.

Never write off a Jose Mourinho side, but they are definitely third favourites at present.

Manchester City’s games in hand

Man City will always have their games in hand at the back of their mind – with home games against Aston Villa and Sunderland not looking like a real test.

Manuel Pellegrini has always had these games to fall back on, but a win at Anfield will really put City in pole position with the chance of winning the remainder of their games.

Liverpool will also have their thoughts on City’s games in hand and so the game between the pair becomes even bigger.

Pressure is on Liverpool

With the afore mentioned games in hand for City, Liverpool will know that they need to get a result against Pellegrini’s side to prevent them from pulling clear.

Liverpool travel to West Ham tomorrow, where they should win, and then all the focus will be on the big clash next Sunday.

If Liverpool win, they’re in the driving seat, any other result and City will fancy their chances.
