What Should Tottenham now do with Jamie O’Hara?

Jamie-O-HaraWith Jamie O’Hara’s immediate future in the air, as Pompey await clearance from the PL, the big question is what should Harry Redknapp do with the player and is it time to recall him back to the Tottenham ranks.

I don’t know any supporters who dislike O’Hara as a player and who wouldn’t be happy to see the back of him at the club. The decision to send him out on loan seemed a strange one to me and it makes you wonder if it was simply a sweetener by Redknapp, having obtained two of their stars on the cheap in Crouch and Kranjcar. O’Hara is just the kind of player that every squad needs, especially given his versatility.

While the results and the performance of the team this season may suggest that O’Hara hasn’t been missed, I really feel that in the second half of the season it would be great to have someone like O’Hara on the bench, or to start in those kind of games where we need to roll our sleeves up and do battle. The business end of the season is generally a tough slog as each club tends to have its own personal battle, whether it survival, chase for Europe, or the title, the games tend to be hard-fought and I just wonder in Jenas and Huddlestone, whether they have it in themselves for a battle. Surely in games like the Stoke’s, Wolves and Burnley’s away it would be better to have a player like O’Hara alongside Palacios, than the aforementioned duo.

Another reason for recalling O’Hara is that the question still remains as to whether Gareth Bale is going to be able to step in for Ekotto. We all know Bale’s abilities going forward, but defensively there still remains a big question mark. O’Hara has represented England at left back, therefore will once again be an ideal understudy to have, should Bale start to struggle.

So what are the feelings about O’Hara and should he be recalled by Tottenham, or do we have enough in reserve therefore his development would be best served out on loan?
