Tottenham star scraps ‘embarrassing’ Arsenal rumours

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has brushed off rumours that he could join Arsenal at the end of the season.

Gunners striker Olivier Giroud recently hinted that the Spurs stopper could be willing to make the short trip to the Lilywhites’ fierce rivals at the end of the season, with the Emirates Stadium side believed to be in the market for a new number one.

Lloris has already confessed that he may have to consider his options in six months time if Tottenham miss out on Champions League qualification, with the French international desperate to display his talents on the biggest stage.

But even though Arsenal would present him with that opportunity, he says that the links are nonsense:

“Yes I heard about that,’ he told Tottenham’s official website.

“I think maybe some words were twisted, but it is embarrassing. I don’t think that. I’m very focused on Spurs’ ambition and I am very pleased to play for Spurs.

“I have too much respect for the club and the Spurs fans to think that kind of thing. Of course I know [Giroud] very well because we are team-mates in the national team – the same with Laurent Koscielny – but I am a Spurs player and I’m very proud to play here.”

Lloris has also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, who are rumoured to have made him the latest Premier League star on the transfer wish list after snapping up Yohan Cabaye from Newcastle last month.
