guest columnist Dan Colgan doesn't think that Harry's dilemma, is such a tough one
Harry Redknapp has
come out and claimed that he has a real striking dilemma on his hands,
especially given Peter Crouch's heroics in midweek; however I ask the question
as to whether it is actually the case at all and whether the decision is far
more transparent than he would like us to believe. Crouch and Defoe has to be
first choice here on in and perhaps the time has now come to stick Robbie on
With all due
respect to Robbie, who has had a decent start to the season, we are in
desperate need of a change and some presence upfront. Crouch has remained
patient in the most part on the bench, but the time has come for Harry to
reunite the pair upfront and give them the opportunity to build on the
partnership that flourished during their time together at Fratton Park. This is
his No.1 pairing and why Harry stayed loyal to Keane after his impressive
start, two defeats now dictate a change needs to be made.
Crouch offers the team something different and
you can see that when he plays he gives Huddlestone that outlet, someone to hit
the diagonal balls at and in general he gives the whole team someone to play
off, something we have missed since Berbatov left. I know too many it will seem
harsh to drop Keane, given that our woes in the last two weeks has been down to
poor tactical decisions on Harry's part, but we need to revert back to a
conventional 4-4-2 and someone like Kranjcar has to come in for Modric on the
left-hand, as the experiment with Keane there against United, failed miserably.
Crouch deserves his chance and it is one that I fully expect him to take.
