Ultimate football model collector lands dream job

Capital One Cup collectorIt’s taken him 18 years and a staggering 5,000 miniature models to build Britain’s biggest football Corinthian figure set, but now super collector Craig Robinson has finally turned his unique hobby into a dream job.

After a nationwide search, Capital One has appointed the ultimate collector Craig, 27 from Scunthorpe, to the position of ‘Head of Quality Control’ for their own limited edition football figurine range.

The popular Corinthian football figurines shot to fame in the early 90s when the miniature models captured the imagination of young footie fans, including then nine-year old Newcastle Untied supporter Craig who was hooked after buying the exclusive Alan Shearer model in 1995.

Capital One, credit card company and sponsors of the League Cup, is giving 1,000 lucky fans the chance to immortalise themselves into its version of the iconic handcrafted models. Craig’s expertise and keen eye for detail will be cast over each model to make sure they are as accurate as possible.

Craig said: “I’m delighted to be involved in this exciting project. I’ve spent years examining miniature models so Capital One has definitely made the right choice. They have even given me my own individual model, which will take pride of place in my collection!”

Michael Woodburn, Capital One’s Chief Marketing Officer, said: “We’re pleased to have Craig on board to make this project as authentic and successful as possible. Who better than Britain’s top collector to make sure that our Capital One Cup models are delivered to the best possible quality?”

1,000 fans will get their own bespoke Capital One models via a special Facebook App. http://www.facebook.com/capitaloneuk for more details. The promotion closes on Tuesday 16th April, 2013.
