Football FanCast guest columnist Tom Bevan feels Arsene Wenger won’t need to worry about a team talk on Saturday.
If Arsene Wenger ever needed to motivate his players or his own desire to succeed on Saturday, then the spuds captain did all that was necessary with his outburst this morning. I never thought that Robbie was the sharpest tool in the box and this further underlines it.
To be honest I don’t think we needed much motivation as I’m sure last year’s corresponding fixture is still firmly in the mind of the players. In my mind it was the game where our season firmly fell apart and the aftermath first exposed the divisions that exist in the dressing room and it took us sometime in order to get ourselves back on track after it. There is no doubt Wenger will be all out for revenge and I’m sure the players on reading the Irishman’s words of wisdom will be determined to ram it right down their throats.
They never seem to understand the concept that it pays to keep quiet about aims and future ambitions as they generally come back to bite you, leaving nothing but egg on the face. One day they’ll will eventually breach the top four, but it won’t be for the next few seasons, especially when you consider the quality in our squad and the amount of money the likes of Man City are laying out to make sure they are in the running.
I don’t know about anyone else but I am now looking forward to the weekend and after today, I am left with little doubt that the players will be motivated and determined to heap revenge on them. No chance of them getting off to a slow start on Saturday and in many ways no need for Arsene to give any teamtalks here; the spuds have kindly done it for him.
