The Wolves Football FanCast team had the pleasure today of going down to the Wolves training ground at Compton to present Matt Jarvis with the Wolves Football Fancast Show Player of the Season award 2010/11.
From our listeners poll, Matt secured just under half the votes (48% to be precise) to secure this honour. Beating off Kevin Doyle who came second and Wayne Hennnessy to Third.
It has been an incredible rise for Matt Jarvis over the last few years. A few years ago Matt was playing for Gillingham in League One and now is a regular in the Wolves first team in the Premier League. Not only was Matt Jarvis one of the stand-out players in the Wolves squad last season, he was also one of the star performers in the Premier league, impressing both fans and critics alike with his skill, vision and ability to get around defenders.
Matt made some vital assists last season for Wolves, including setting up Fletcher’s goal in a 3-3 draw with Spurs. But he was also there to put in the goals when Wolves needed them. For example, scoring the winner in Wolves 1-0 win over Aston Villa last season.
So much was Jarvis impressive form that he deservedly got a call up from Mr. Capello and became the first Wolves player since Steve Bull to play for England, coming on as a substitute against Ghana in March.
Well done to Matt Jarvis for securing the first Wolves Football FanCast Show Player of the Season award. If he continues the impressive form and display we saw from his last season, he may not only get another call up from England, but he may win the award next season….
A big thanks to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Matt Jarvis for letting us present the award.
