You can’t spell ‘Football’ with ‘P-e-r-s-p-e-c-t-i-v-e’

With the haunting images of Fabrice Muamba’s collapse still fresh in the mind, all other subject matter seems a little trivial at this moment in time. Of course, football must go on but the wave of concern from fans and players up and down the country reinforce the fact that Saturday 17th 2012 is a day that won’t be forgotten any time soon. The latest developments on the Bolton midfielder’s condition are that he is making a slow, yet steady recovery and has declared in his own words to “feel fine.”

I’d be lying if I said I thought i’d be reading that when he was initially taken to hospital. I, like many others, feared the worst and inevitably with such a near-tragic event comes reflection. The incident got me thinking about just how seriously we take football and sport in general as a nation; almost to comical extremes.

So, I guess it’s ironic that I should opt to produce a slightly more serious Football Coffee Break this week with that as the focus. Watch my video below for a look at ‘Perspective’ in football… if I can find any.
