Gabriel Jesus’ first three Man City games in numbers

Some scoffed when Manchester City swooped for Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian is seen as one of the finest talents his homeland has produced for a while, but the way his move dragged on in January, despite the deal having been agreed with Palmeiras in the summer, laid out excuses for a slow start to his career at the Etihad Stadium – while the quality of football in Brazil’s top tier was seen by some as leaving him with too big of a gap to bridge.

Alas, the 19-year-old has been stunningly good so far, with his first three Premier League appearances (vs. Spurs, West Ham and Swansea) having quickly silenced the doubters. Jesus has been so good that we decided to look at the numbers from his trio of league outings, and they make great reading for Pep Guardiola…

Indeed, the teenager has scored a whopping three goals in 194 minutes of action, averaging out at the ball hitting the net every 65 minutes, while he’s also notched an assist, meaning he has directly contributed to a goal every 49 minutes of action – that’s almost one a half! On top of that, the youngster has hit the target with half of his eight shots and made four chances for team-mates.

With the Brazilian looking so effective alongside Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero may have to look for a new home in the summer…
