N’Golo Kante’s impact at Chelsea has been talked about at length already this season. The sheer change in fortunes between the Blues and Leicester – whom the Frenchman moved between – really sums up the importance of the 25-year-old, who is now on the verge of winning back-to-back Premier League crowns with different teams, which is some achievement.

Stamford Bridge icon Frank Lampard appeared on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football for their coverage of the Londoners’ meeting with cross-city rivals West Ham, and the recently retired Englishman (via The Sport Review) gushed about the midfielder:

“He has been a revelation for Chelsea. We knew from last season what he can give.

“He can win the ball back so quickly and move the ball so quickly. He has given them a huge amount. When you do have the security of him in midfield, it gives the three Chelsea forwards the license to kick on.”

And Kante’s performance against the Hammers reflected Lampard’s words, with the Chelsea ace in top form…

The energetic enforcer was at his all-action best, fighting fires across the pitch, as shown by his four tackles won – the highest tally of any player in the away team’s XI. Kante also completed 90% of his 50 passes and had 63 touches of the ball illustrating how involved in the general play he was, while winning one aerial duel and making an interception.
