N’Golo Kante did far more than score the winner for Chelsea against Manchester United

N’Golo Kante has been nothing short of a revelation since switching Leicester City for Chelsea.

Thrust into the heart of the Chelsea midfield, the Frenchman has certainly left his mark on Antonio Conte’s side – his stellar partnerships with both Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas proving vital to proceedings at Stamford Bridge this season.

On Monday night against Manchester United, it was Nemanja Matic that got the opportunity to play alongside Kante, and the Serbian was treated to a midfield masterclass from his teammate.

Of course, Kante was Chelsea’s match-winner – and for a player that has been famed for his defensive role, the fact that he is adding goals to his game is certainly a huge boost for Conte.

His offensive contributions extended far beyond the goal, though, with four key passes and four dribbles highlighting just how crucial the Frenchman was to Chelsea’s efforts going forward.

The contribution of four clearances and four tackles confirms that his impressive attacking threat did not take away from his defensive role, too, as Kante continued to aid Nemanja Matic in protecting the back four throughout.
