Arsenal have had their name linked a number of times with Marco Reus but it seems this time there is genuine effort on their part to set-up a deal, as they look to secure a top-class replacement should Alexis Sanchez leave.

The Chilean has less than 18 months remaining on his deal and Arsenal are growing increasingly fearful that Alexis could leave this summer, with a host of European giants eyeing his signature and looking to take advantage.

If Alexis does leave, then Arsenal will have a huge hole to fill and have eyed Reus to come into the side. However, the German's season statistics suggest he won't quite be able to compete to the same sort of level.

It's worth noting that Marco Reus has again suffered with injury problems this game, hence his lack of Bundesliga appearances, and a ratio of three assists and one goal in those games is a decent record. However, question marks remain on his fitness.

Having endured numerous injury problems since missing Germany's 2014 World Cup success, Reus' stock has declined on the continent and his injury record may be the reason for it.
